In 1989, 194 governments across the world promised that every child would have the same rights -the Rights of the Child. It tells everyone what they must do to make sure that every child can grow, learn, be safe, can be listened to and treated fairly.
We feel it is important that our pupils are aware of and have an understanding of their rights.
We focus upon the UN ‘Rights of the Child’ in Worship, PSHE and cross curricular lessons. We have previously had visits from Guide Dogs for the Blind and during Holocaust Memorial Day. In Spring Term, we used the book "For every Child" as a starting point for our learning. Each class created a display linked to one of the rights. Each class led an assembly about a different 'right' and we ended the half term with a whole school assembly for parents about what we had learnt.
