Aboriginal Art

The children learnt about different types of Aboriginal Art. Much of Aboriginal Art is made up of dots and the children used cotton wool buds to do dot painting on different surfaces using both poster paint and acrylic paint. They used pebbles, pieces of wood, ceramic love heart pots and black sugar paper. They also decorated leaf shapes with dots. The leaves were put together to make a decorative leaf wreath. The children also made dream catchers and worked together to create totem poles. We learnt about some of the symbols the Aboriginal people used to tell stories and we attempted to include these in our art as well as drawing them in sand. We had a fun and busy week, and it was wonderful to see the children all working together and alongside each other to create some amazing artwork. Here are some of the pictures from the week.
