Curriculum Intent

At Sacred Heart we provide a Catholic Christian education based on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, in which the values of the Gospel underpin all aspects of school life. Our school motto of ‘Let the love of Christ show in all that we do’ drives our ambition to provide the best opportunities for all of our children.

Our school is a place where the individuality of every child is recognised and nurtured. We have high aspirations for all children to allow each of them to achieve their full potential, spiritually, emotionally, academically and socially.

We follow the 2014 National Curriculum in Years 1 to 6 and the Early Years Framework in Reception. Planning is based on meeting the statutory requirements with breadth, depth, balance and progression throughout. Our curriculum is enriching and challenging, with content carefully tailored to maximise the benefits to our children based on our knowledge of their background and locality. We work hard to ensure that their horizons are broadened by enabling them to experience and learn about the world around them, in a way that inspires creativity and fuels their inquisition.

Our children are challenged but safe. They are resilient risk takers. They are fun and have a passion for learning.
